Parkville Gardens Stage 9

Parkville Gardens Stage 9

Parkville Gardens is a significant residential precinct spanning a 20-hectare site in inner Melbourne. Co-Perform has provided specialised ESD engineering services for the six most recent stages of this major urban renewal programme, collaborating closely with Frasers Property Group and Citta Village Park Pty Ltd.

Challenges

The primary technical challenge for Stage 9 involved achieving an average 7 Star NatHERS rating across the development. This requirement had to be balanced against strict cost-control measures, the need to maximise spatial efficiency, and a commitment to maintaining an uncomplicated architectural specification. Furthermore, all energy ratings were subject to rigorous auditing by the Victorian Government, necessitating high levels of accuracy and documentation.

Technical Solutions

Our methodology centred on consistent and early engagement with the architectural and design teams, spanning from the initial planning phases through to final construction documentation.

Key consultancy components included:

  • Thermal Performance Optimisation: Delivery of practical and cost-effective advice regarding insulation and glazing specifications to meet the 7 Star mandate.
  • Integrated Design: Facilitating collaborative thinking throughout the design lifecycle to ensure sustainability targets were embedded in the architectural response rather than treated as secondary additions.
  • Compliance Management: Ensuring all modelling and reporting met the stringent audit requirements of the Victorian Government while supporting the commercial objectives of the developers.

Through this integrated approach, the project achieved its high-performance thermal targets while maintaining the efficiency and simplicity required for a large-scale residential rollout.
